The launching of Alexa skills required a skill to be “enabled” before use, which a user did by finding a desired skill in the Alexa app, tapping a button, and then invoking the skill. I refined and launched the v1 of voice enablement for skills, allowing a user to instead say, “enable NPR One.” Following this, I designed and vetted the direct invocation of skills without the user previously enabling them, backgrounding this task and pushing required enablement messaging to the fore of the experience (“This skill is rated Mature. Are you sure you want to open it?”)
